Saw Piercing Assignment:The saw piercing assignment consists of cutting two designs from sheets of metal, (copper or brass), with a jewelers saw. The First Design will fit into an oval or round shape. The Second Design will have its own shape. This process will give you the skills required to use of some basic jewelry tools. Designs must be original. Craftsmanship, design, and the quality of the finished work, are the primary criteria for grading your work.

Vocabulary Objectives: The major difference between principles and elements is that principles are rules you have to follow and elements are things that will help you complete those rules for the best project outcome. Principles are the laws of designing anything!
You will create a poster with images of jewelry pieces that illustrate the design terms. You can print these off, in color or cut out of magazines and glue neatly to a 18X24 piece of drawing paper with credit to the artist and a title for the term it illustrates. There are 14 terms, you will find 14 designs of jewelry. |
