You can begin working on this when ever you need to. It is due Friday. Keep in mind...you will not have time in class on Wednesday to complete this. It is a day for classroom cleaning which is a required portion of the final.
You can complete this either with a slide show or a video. You will share as a link here. This is worth 100 points.

Hey all, so I came home yesterday and have no heat....burrrrrrr. So I am staying home to get my house warm. Yesterday, however I decided I was going to change things up with your next project.
There is, on the tables, a stack of ceramics monthly magazines. You are going to pick an artist featured in that magazine...not one that simply has an ad, but an article etc. Using the article as a jumping of point, you are going to research the artist, their work, their process and their history. (Use this rubric to guide your writing.) The research paper should focus on quality not length. Due Friday...yes its homework. Type, print and turn in a physical copy. No handwritten please. Once you are well educated on the artist, you will begin a design for a piece, of your choice, that mimics or is inspired by the work of this artist. Design is due Monday when you come in to class so you can begin working on it. Challenge yourself. Rethink your limits. It should be inspired by the work of the artist with a twist that makes it yours, do not just copy. Ceramics 2 and 3 Semester Goals Paper, due Monday 11th
You are now in an upper level art class. You should begin thinking about your personal connection to art. How does your philosophy of visual expression, and your creative process inform the decisions you make while creating art? This paper needs to be minimum 2 paragraphs, and will be graded on the writing rubric linked on the side. There are some prompts below to help guide your writing. Thesis statement for opening paragraph, set a solid obtainable goal
Ceramics 2:You will be designing and creating a large slab build vase. I would like you to explore the idea of movement. Either in the form of the pot or in how you apply surface decoration, how can you make a stationary object appear to be moving? Start with a 5-10 large scale designs. We will have a group discussion on Sept 10th on the designs you have started to push your thinking. Please take a look at Mitchel Grafton, pick one of his works, anyone of them will work, and complete a critique due Friday (gasp...homework). Remember a critique is four paragraphs:
Lesson Objective: Students will give meaningful feedback to peers with direct suggestions to help improve their work or to facilitate the process of working. Steps for a TAG Critique: 1. Students start the process by writing the word “TAG” down the left side of a sticky note. Please write your name across the back of the note. 2. Please place your in-progress artwork on your work area. 3. Please pick up your pen or pencil and sticky notes and leave your artwork at your seat. 4. I will play music as you walk around the room, viewing the artwork as you pass by. 5. When the music stops, you should sit down at the closest artwork, being sure to not choose your own. 6. Please, then respond to the three letter prompts on their sticky notes according to the artwork that is in front of you TAG is short for:
Studio Time Ceramics 2 and 3 will start class today with a brain dump, recalling everything they know of the elements and principles of design. They then will begin designs, due tomorrow, for a tea pot where we play with the form to get it out of the traditional forms of tea pots. one page of brain stormed ideas and 1 full size page (more is better). We will critique these tomorrow.
