Finish your 2 pinch pots and put them in the kiln room on the shelves in the kiln room. First fire on the shelves farthest from the door, glaze fire the shelves closest to the door.
Learning Objective: Students will learn how to use coils to create interest with line and repetition. Students will create a 3 pound (wet) coil pot to demonstrate an interesting and creative way to use line, pattern and coils to decorate the piece.

Pinch pot construction and alteration techniques.
Learning Objectives: Students will learn how to add interest to a piece and how to do sgraffito. They will learn the stages of clay and how to maintain optimal levels of plasticity. Language Objectives: Students will learn both the vocabulary of creating interest in clay works as well as practice use of the design elements and principles. They will learn the stage of clay. Learning Objectives: Students will learn the "rules" of art and design through the Elements and Principles of Design and be able to apply them.
Vocabulary Objectives: The major difference between principles and elements is that principles are rules you have to follow and elements are things that will help you complete those rules for the best project outcome. Principles are the laws of designing anything!
You will create a poster with images of ceramic pieces that illustrate the design terms. You can print these off, in color or cut out of magazines and glue neatly to a 18X24 piece of drawing paper with credit to the artist and a title for the term it illustrates. There are 14 terms, you will find 14 designs of Pottery.
Today's objectives: Students will learn the basics of working with, storing and the maintenance of the ceramics studio. They will begin to fabricate a pinch pot which we will decorate tomorrow and Wednesday.
